Ok sooooo, sorry for yet another request but some of my members are a bit concerned about not being able to see when a thread has been replied to. Now, there is another site that I am a member of(a paid site) that has this alert message that pops up when a thread has been clicked on to be watched and has had activity.
If that was confusing, I need a button in the threads for members of the thread to push so they can receive a message saying if that thread has been replied to so they don't have to check individual boards or clicking on the newest threads at the top.
Can you help???

have them click the "bookmark" button at the top of the thread. they will be notified via PM everytime someone makes a new post in that thread.
as for an alert that pops up, there wouldnt be a way to do that because there isnt a way to poll the server for threads with new replies. The bookmark feature is going to be your best bet. It will even let you be notified via email if your account has been activated.

Alrighty. That sounds good. I figured that would be the best bet. Thanks for the advice.

The bookmark thing isn't working with the pm system.

go to your profile. click manage bookmarks. there you can set what kind of notification each thread you have marked will get, as well as the default notification for future bookmarks.

It works ok I guess. Someone had asked about how was I going to know if someone had posted a 'thread' in a board if I couldn't see the board, so I guess it's just another concern. I don't suppose I could bookmark a board?

bookmarks only work on posts in existing threads. there isnt a way to bookmark a board for new threads.
