css will let me change the category bars or whatever, but board remodel is getting in the way of rainbow links. its cute and fun and i understand people want fun stuff to look at other than joining. the only problem with board remodel and css doesnt work is it wont italicize, which i think i need my main page looks blah with the regular font. do board links have such a class that it cant be changed? in my mind you misdirecteced me in that my member names couldnt be changed at all. you told me a code couldnt change members displaynames. then you told me member name colors were done thru membergroups, 8 months later you told me the group name would change it, .0. god damn wormo i do respect you. i know, youre the coder, just as anyone kissing your ass rite now
what im *brought to you by the letter b*ing about is, (besides my dumb brain, not you), i want the board names to italicize, it wont work without board cell remodel. thread names will do whatever but board names wont.

do you have a link to the post where I said a display name couldnt be colored?
there have been many questions about colored names in the past. 1. can I colorize an individual display name? yes. 2. can I colorize all the display names for people in the same group? yes. 3. can I colorize all the display names for people in the same posting rank? no. 4. why cant I colorize all the display names for people in the same posting rank? because post count isnt stored in a displayname.
that is a summary of what I have known for a while now. If I told you something different, then I either might not have understood the question or we both misunderstood the scenario. link me to the post and we can see.
now, as to your current inquiry...
board titles dont really have any class name associated with them in order to be able to apply CSS. even if you tried inheritance from the td class=windowbg you would run into EVERY element with the same inheritance. If you want to apply CSS to the board names, then a code MUST be used in order to, at the very least, apply a class name to the board title. a code could also just directly apply CSS to the board title, but a class name seems to provide quicker access to editing.

i forgot about this. the whole deal with the first issue was when you first made the last post remodels and stuff, you told mei couldnt use a code to change displaynames because there were new classes or whatever. so all i knew was i couldnt everchange colors. then i asked you again about it and you said member groups is where you change colors. which wasawhole nitemare i didnt understand all ranks were lost and i was just stuck with Member in the rank position. these i never really asked 3. can I colorize all the display names for people in the same posting rank? no. 4. why cant I colorize all the display names for people in the same posting rank? because post count isnt stored in a displayname.
rhe link is probably in the new thread to rite or sub board one, but its what you told me. i was obviously drunk when i wrote this i didnt even remember it being there. forget about it, i just hated all that membergroup ordeal
if i cant have the rainbow links then i wont, board remodel adjusts the padding in the category bars as well anyway

you and that tequila...
The flashy rainbow links code should be independant of other codes since it targets links individually. but that code is one of those "dont touch me" codes so you might have to contact the author if its still not working.
a display name can be colorized 3 ways:
the standard link color the rest of the board uses for links (this is for any member not assigned to a group). these display names STILL have a classname associated with them: group0
Assigning a member to a group will colorize their display name based on what you have set up in the group settings.
and lastly, targetting a link specifically to see if it is a display name, and/or if its a certain members display name in a code, can then have a color applied to it. this one is harder to do because PB likes to put font tags in there that need to be overrided.
in posts or viewprofile, you could colorize a name based off a post count because that data is actually present on the page. everywhere else, like the main page or places where a name appears without a MP, the post count is NOT available and therefore you wouldnt be able to colorize the name. I think THAT is what you were referring to way back when. and I probably said writing a code wouldnt be possible because post count data is not attched to a display name.
is that more clear?

i know everything i need to know now. the names are colored and i can use a code in the future to change individual names. thats all i ever wanted.
the thing worked for a long time, then it wasnt working on the main page board links but worked on stuff like my table links, the infocenter, new thread link, and everything in the post page. i put back in just now, nothing worked and it slowed down my loading and pages wouldnt even load completely. so its out. maybe ill see another someday. you can close this thread
