you only need 1 cell in the second row. it has a colspan of 3 so it goes across all 3 of the cells in the first row.

you CANT have something both left and right aligned in the same cell by itself. if you want to do that, you need to start a new table, with 2 columns, and then you can left align the first cell and right align the second.

I am not sure why you need any of this padding either.

a div element is block styled, meaning it will force itself on to a new line line. you cant stop that.

if you want something left aligned on the left, and right aligned on the right:

if all the float style stuff wasnt in there, you would have only needed the align attributes. you have some fancy stuff going on with it turning a <li> into a nav menu with CSS

your forum css seems to have border-spacing:0 and border-collapse: collapse turned on. I dont know if you did that or it comes that way from proboards

i didnt do anything, if its on its not helping the table. i looked thru the stylesheet real quick and i couldnt find anything about border spacing and firefoxes search wouldnt find it. if i turned it off would the table work

I removed those 2 selectors and cell spacing worked. Im not sure how to turn it off in your css though.
