I was wondering if there is a code out there that allows us to have our forum available to the public allowing them to see what is there, but if they want to save information (pictures, etc) or post anything they must register.
For example: I visit a forum and I find a picture I really like and I want to save it, but it has a little note at the bottom saying "Register in order to download the pictures" You can see the thumbnails to the pictures, but you cannot see any information on where the picture is hosted.
I hope this makes sense.

if it hits the page, it can be checked for an image source. short of NOT showing the image to guests, there wouldnt be a way around this.
some site attempt to disable right-clicking a picture to save as by a background image trick, but it only works if the image has dimension values.

Do you have a link to a sample of the effect you desire? But keep in mind like Wormo mentioned, pretty much any trick you can use to "protect" an image can be gotten around. But I can take a look and see "how" they do it.
