If someone already has a code running but its clashing with something or there is a minor mistake in editing they just dont see, I dont mind jumpin in on those. its more of the ones that ask how to get rid of Hey X, or how to get the user legend in the info center. THOSE questions I KNOW can be found using search.
someone who is struggling with one of my own codes will always get my attention as well. unless they piss me off. arguing with me over 1 pixel of alignment just gets the thread ignored.
the hover link code gets asked about a lot, but it usually ends up having to look at the site anyway because its so custom in how people edit it. you can search for hover links, but you will most likely just find people asking how to put them on. if you already have them on, but the editing made them stop working, that worthy of asking if someone can see where the error is. not everyone knows about the error console in firefox.
netmaster site has a really cool effect of using a single image broken up over the category titles. when they are all closed you can see the full image. I like that effect. as well as the jQuery news slider in the info center. very rare to see that.
as for adding things, Im not a designer. I couldnt tell you what to do to your forum to make it MORE appealing. I only know what I like to see. Im not saying to ditch anything that any other site has. obviously you need some of that to provide the organization of your forum. but if you dont know WHY you have a word count in the side bar.. then why have it there at all?
these are just MY opinions however. Im not the majority, and Im definitely not the target crowd you are going for to join your forum. I dont like twlight very much (mostly because I cant forgive Stephanie Meyers for bastardizing the lore so much), I like harry potter but not enough to pretend im a student at the school, and I dont see the appeal of pretending to be a bunch of feral cats running around the woods (or dogs, or wolves, or horses, etc..). Im not that target audience. My interest lies in discovering if there is a solution to a problem or realizing the fresh new idea someone had and writing a code to achieve it. which doesnt always happen.

I know the answer at least one of those questions. The word counter in the sidebar is usually used because the site has a word requirement per post. In a roleplay, writing is all we have, and most of the sites are pretty strict about how many words you have to write, the good ones anyway. As for putting them in the sidebars? I haven't seen any sites put them there for a long time, which is good because, the sidebar gets too full as it is, there's no need for so much there.
My problem with coding is, I never had any training or know of anyone that knows more than me, to teach me. To sit me down and tell me, like you did today. The = and the + to add onto what is already there. Once you said that, I learned something and that code made a little bit more sense to me. I can break a code down and look at a sites source and figure out what is what, but I can't figure out what would be wrong with it or create my own. That's just too complicated for me.
Luckily there's people like you out there that know what you are doing for us idiots. I'll leave the coding for the experts and I'll do the graphics.

Thanks for the feedback Wormo. I will say that as a regular Web Developer I do very much appreciate JQuery and it's wonderful functionality. If it wasn't for the slew of codes that already existed here for ProBoards I probably would have used it a lot more on my site to accomplish the effects I needed. And I can honestly tell you that I know the reason for having each code in place. The word count I actually placed at the bottom of the post screen (or under the quick reply). It's not that I require a word count but I do give rewards for based on word counts. So I give my users the ability to see if they've met a certain award level.
In a RP site setting when you play with multiple characters it can be tiresome to have to switch back and forth via login/logout screen. So I placed in a login/logout code option right near the top making it easy to switch between characters.
And just in case anyone forgets who they are logged in as (I know I have before) I placed a wonderful slide out div that tells you who you are logged in as.
The c-box I just find helpful as it provides members with a real-time interaction that helps build more solid relationships.
Hidden beneath that in one of your reveal by group div's is a staff c-box. So staff members can discuss forum business without to be on YIM, AIM or Skype.
Beneath that box are group DIV's that explain about the different races used in the RP. Demons will see the one for Demons, Reapers the one for Reapers ect. This will be used to make announcements that only each race needs to see.
Beneath the Welcome Table is a hidden PM menu. It has more options and functionality than just taking me to my inbox. It can be accessed by clicking above the Welcome Table (I fought with that code and that's the closest I could put it was to append it at the top).
Beneath the PM menu is a tabbed table which is defaulted to a Welcome message explaining the purpose of the site. Users can also view the current staff members (divided up by race) as well as the monthly awards showcase. (Don't have anyone yet for that.)
The forum as you saw is divided up with a picture that completes itself once all categories are closed.
(I could go on and explain each and every code but I think I'll spare you the details.)

I use Global Proboards to sign in and out of my accounts, now, it's easier. Thank god they gave that to us. As far as word counting on posts? Doesn't it get effected if we use codes, such as blockquoting and sizing down, doesn't it confuse it into thinking there's more words than there are? That's why I stopped using those codes on posts.

Nice! This will actually help out a lot though! Word counting can be so much easier this way
