I found your original code " Sub Boards into Columns" and I wondering if you could take the code one step further and add "Last Post by:" I'm real interested in this code and it would make things a lot easier if the Last Post was added in the code. I hope to hear back. Happy Holidays! Victoria

I took your original code and put into my forum to make a screen shot to help explain. SCREENSHOTUnder each sub-board title there will a "last post" code added. This will make things more easier and clearer for my members as well as I. Thank you for responding back so quick and no problem, please take your time on the coding, the new year is when I would like the code by.

It doesn't quite work. It messes up my entire forum. When I input the code into the Global footer this is what it DOES. It gives me my drop down sub-boards like I want, but if I put it in the Main Footer it still does the same thing but no drop down sub-board box. So either way it moves everything out of my actual Categories into the columns. I thought the code was suppose to only affect the sub-boards? Hmmm.

this code was never meant for global footers. It was meant to go into a board footer, so that when you went into the parent board, the sub-boards would be in columns instead of listed like boards on the main page.
This code WILL do strange things to the main page and that is why it was listed under placement as : board footer.
this code also has no drop down part in it, so that must be from another code.
perhaps if we started from the beginning and you told me what you are looking for the main page to do?

1. I first put the code into the main footer and it messed up my main page and put all the categories into columns which I do NOT want them messed with only the sub-boards in the boards that are in the categories on the main page. 2. I do have a code for a sub-board drop down menu and when I put your code in the main footer it messed up the main page it took away the code but if I put your code in the global footer it does not after the sub-board drop down code. 3. Before I had you reconfigure the code ONLY the sub-boards were being changed on the forum nothing else being messed with. 4. Okay, starting from the beginning here's what I would like to happen. a. Main page of forum must NOT be messed with in any way possible. b. Your original code to Sub-Boards into Columns will have the "Last Post" added under each sub-board title. c. ONLY the sub-boards sections will be changed. I hope this helps out. Victoria

I think you misunderstood when I was saying "board footer"
this code cant go in global footer. this code cant go in main footer.
this code should go into the board footer of a board with sub-boards. when you go to modify headers/footers, the drop down will list board names under global and main. find the board name that has the sub-boards listed under it. go into that specific h/f editor. put this code into the footer area.

BTW, in your Gillian forum you have all the codes in your header and footer seperated by things like:
<!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CODE COMMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>
the "<!" symbol in HTML is for a metadata tag. It COULD possibly be part of the reason you occasionally get logout errors.
you should convert all of those comments to look like:
<!-- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CODE COMMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -->
THAT is the approved method for doing comments in HTML.

OMG, I never realized this. I was wondering why in v4 they added all the drop downs. Thank you so much for clarifying this up for me. I felt like an idiot through all this, so thank you for helping me understand proboards a little bit better! I will give this new method a try right now.

Hmmm...you know I took HTML classes and remember them telling me the way I have been doing the "<!!" thing before each code to know what each code. I wonder if that has changed or maybe the instructor was just plain nuts. lol Thank you for helping me out on this and I will go ahead and change them all. So instead of "<!!!!!!!!!!sub board into columns!!!!!!>" it should be <!--!!!!!!!sub boards into colums!!!!!!!-->?" Thanks again. You have been very helpful and thank you for the sub-boards into columns code with the last post added to it!

the <? by itself is used to designate metadata. <!-- is used to start a comment. When I browsed your site I got hit with a bunch of non-critical warnings about those tags. They werent going to completely halt execution, but there was a possibility that the parser would stall on them while it tried to figure out if it was valid metadata or not.

I went ahead and changed every since one and added in the "--" the title. Can you do me a favor and see if you are still hit with a bunch of non-critical warnings? Much appreciated if you could it would help out a lot since one or two members were still telling me the log-out issue is still happening, but with me it wasn't.

comments good. also found this:
in this code: <!--!!!!!!!!!!HIDE FORUM JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-->
find this line:
for(FJ=0;i<TD.length;FJ++){
change to:
for(FJ=0;FJ<TD.length;FJ++){
there is another one popping up, but the line number doesn't seem to correspond to an actual error, so Im still looking for it.
