Looking good man. You know I love the semi transparent stuff! ;D
Maybe make the semi transparent part a bit wider and lower the opacity with the image so you can see through it a bit better. (I use images with the opacity set at 50.)
Maybe even a different color for the semi transparent bit?

But for now Ill only give it a 10/10 =)
And I agree with pm, maybe a slight increase of opacity would be good, about a 15% increase maybe?

this is how it currently is:
I used a 50% transparent block for the base background image. The category fieldset gets that first. Then the board fieldset gets the SAME 50% background on top of it. so that is why it gets darker. Then the table cells inside the board ALSO get 50%. I set their highlight to pure 100% black when you hover over them and added in the full row highlist code I wrote to do all 4 cells.
When you say INCREASE opacity.. are you talking about making it more or less opaque?

oh and I used 50% black opacity, but I made it part of CSS, so you could actually just change the URL to the background block if you wanted to modify the look.

currently set at 30% now... it looks a bit TOO transparent to me now...

I think it looks better.  Have you tried different colors for each layer? (window1 color, window2 another color, cat another color) May not work at all? ;D |

Yeah i think it looked better at 50%. The BG is too busy to have the opacity down that low imo, maybe try 40% now |

as for different colors, the 3 layers use the same CSS currently... and just increases the opaqueness as they stack. You could use an image in there if you really wanted, or make a .png of 40% red opacity.. but since they all use the same CSS multiple colors isnt available yet.
