Is it possible to make an image appear next to board name/description please? I would use replace board name with image, but then I need to move the description over and find a way to make the name come back to where it was.... interoceandesigns.com/index.cgiI'm aiming to get the board display similiar to IOD's, but I want to keep my images. The images left of the name/description would look quite good for what I have in mind. Whatcha think Wormo? |

I thought there was a code that replaced the board name with an image.. but didnt take the board names out of the drop down lists. do you have that code? because it can probably just be modded to put the image before the name instead of replacing it.
but the part you added about moving the description but putting the name back confuses me... is the image underneath the name then?

Used IOD there to show you since we dont have the main page stuff for that complete. But you get the idea of what it would look like.
All that were looking for here is to put the banner image to the elft of the name/description.
The description is auto placed under the board name so it would look like that no matter what.
I dont have a use for the thread cell or the on/off folder icon to the left of the name, those would be removed with another code.
I believe I tried replacing the on/off folder area with the banner before but it created problems on the page and ultimately did not work out.

Ive removed the topics and on/off icon columns.
Technically Im trying to use up the space that freed up, but mainly I just want the banner image to appear left of the name/description.
Cant remember offhand and I dont currently have the code to try out and then tell you. I just remember having a couple of problems from it.

As I said, the folder issue, then when you hover over the image you get something unnecessary.
Most importantly the columns are all uneven. The descripton cell is taking up 500px, a little over 250 for the on off icon cell, posts cell is 48, and 102 px for last post cell.
I was hoping for 250px for the image, then 250px for the description, 500px total and not 750. Post cell is ok as is, the last post cell should be 150px though, ish.
I had hopes that if we worked out the spacing for the columns right we could come up with a code then to put up a div area of side tables next to the boards/content. Unlike the other side table codes like smangiis, I wanted to use up the space left over from taking out the topics column, the on/off column, and what unnecessary space there was left over.
With 500px for the Banner/descriptions, 50px for posts column, and 150px for last post, it left 200px left over. That would be a sufficient width for the side table boxes.

what are you looking to happen if there is no image? does the text go all the way to the left?

There should be an image for every board. We dont currently have every board image we need, though we have most, because of the influx of new content. However in the worst case scenario I can put up a place holder image, so thats not an issue.
It wont be a problem, but hypothetically no image, it makes sense to go to the left. Do you agree?

what if you just used a code to resize the cell widths? then you could use the on/off image code, and put in a blank image for the boards that dont have an image yet. the cell widths can be redefined to be 250 - 500 - 50 - 150

hmm... you put up 950px not 900, but I get your point. But then we'd need to have the sidetable code first to get those pixels straightened in, right?
It sounds like a good plan. The only downside is you cant click on the image to go to the board, if it were in the board area you could. I dont suppose we can make the images have the alts for the names ?
