yah yah.. Im not a graphics person at all... Im just experimenting with the images and the corners code thing...
If I could make a graphic that looked good, I was trying to make an image of a worm turning into ones and zeros going around the corner... but I havent been able to make anything look good yet.
then again.. the point of this site is just to store the codes I have been writing (or anyone that wants to submit).

Thank you! I do what i can with what I got... and what I need is some more traffic... Would that META tag that you can put and add keywords of your own choice be any good? So if someone searches "Proboard codes" on google, your site would be somewhere in the search. I think I explained that horribly lol

according to sources... the google bots have already roamed my site... Meta tags are apparently not necessary anymore.

You're in luck! I have been in the SEO (not SOE ) industry since the very beginning pre-1999 and I'm 90% sure I could get this site to the front page of Google for your desired keywords. The downside is that Proboards allows very, very limited control over the SEO side of things, not nearly enough to allow a "professional" job by any stretch of the imagination. Even with the silly restrictions I could still get you very high in Google, but - and it's a big but, I don't fancy helping Proboards to make even more unearned money from the Adsense clicks they will gain for my (and your) efforts. However I would be willing to work out a deal that allows the placement of my own Adsense block on the site in exchange for the work, but this might make the site look nuts shyte. Maybe another option might be possible. Before I get called an opportunistic profiteering capitalist turd, I would glady do the work for free if Proboards were not going making a profit from this community.

The only way to have your own advertising placed on a proboards site is to pay to have ads removed.. which costs $7 a month (50000 hits). I paid for it on SK site for a couple months to see if it was worth it but figured the ads werent too much a distraction to worry about.
I know the google bots have scanned this site because I can type worm and codes into google and this site came up.. (eerily.. try typing tankball and serial killers in and see what you get).
Im also cautious about trying anything that could be construed as "an attempt to violate TOS" because lately PBS has been on a campaign. I dont know if you follow the support site but last week 6 boards were shut down without any explanation to the owners as to why other than "violation of TOS". the owners are livid and calling it a conspiracy. I realize support doesnt have to answer to the accusations, but all of us who peruse those threads are wondering what the hell happened ourselves... what was so bad on those sites that they were shut down? was it something completely retarded like ritualistic animal sacrifice? child pr0n? selling drugs? slave trafficking? those would be understandable.. but the owners vehemently deny such things were there, and when 6 related sites came to a sudden end it raised quite the ruckus. To the point of every other thread being spammed out by the members of those sites about "Freedom of speech" and "ACLU threats". which, I agree, didnt help their cause.
I myself ran into a TOS problem with one of my scripts that caused the page to scroll down 140 pixels on a reload. I did it so that the banner would be at the top of the screen, but according to PBS it was considered "hiding the ads". I never hid the ads, they were still there and you could scroll up to see them, but it was enough to raise eyebrows and I was told I had to remove it. Looking at the TOS it never specifically said I couldnt scroll the page to a desired location however. Apparently there are some "fine text" rules that I believe need to be amended to the TOS so that no one writes something similar in the future.
circling back... I am interested in your proposal, but I would like to find out what I specifically can and cannot do before implementing anything.

I can understand that, my own Proboards forum gained over 4000 members before I finally had enough of their sub-standard service and set up my own forum complete with Adsense. Now Adsense pays my rent.
I'd be happy to set things off on a trial basis and when you're getting the desired result in Google to negotiate something.

I check in every now and then for the Codes! Thanks man! I have a site or 2 with just images among other things. LOL. Where did you learn to code? Don't tell me you just picked it up. If you did I hate you! ;D Edit: I just reread your post about the TOS. I think most of them are due to the members turning the admins in. JMO of coarse. I've had several sites that could be deleted. I just never shared them. ;D

Its quite the experience logging into a Forum you spent a lot of time on to find it redirected to the Proboards page.
I have spilt sympathy for the ones shut down due to Language violations, because yes, they agreed to making it all english, but perhaps their english wasnt good enought to KNOW they were agreeing to it. I think there should be some grace period after they are caught to translate the board for past and future posts and failing that.. THEN they get deleted.
I am also imxed on the whole "The TOS IS your warning" answer that is given sometimes. I wonder how much reputation could be saved by just simply putting the site in maintenance mode and sending a PM to the admin telling them they have 24 hours to get rid of whatever content is in violation. perhaps keep a list of sites that have already been warned once and repeat offenders dont get a second warning.
Or perhaps Im just too lenient in my thinking and thats why IM not in charge...

The 24 hour thing sounds great but I doubt those in charge would ever consider it. You did'nt answer my question about the coding! I must say that reply code is flapjacking awesome! ;D Thanks man!

which reply code? the forced login one?
and to answer your other question:
when I was in 1st grade, they introduced us to a little program called LOGO. It had a triangle called a turtle, and you would write a long list of instructions like FD 50 RT 90 to draw lines on the screen.
along with my blossoming interest in math, I started getting good at drawing 3D shapes and then more complex drawings. I once entered a contest sponsored by the high school Computer Club looking for burgeoning programmers. I wrote something like a 10 page instruction list to draw a 3D house. complete with windows and a badly shaped car in the driveway. I won first prize... A pack of 20 HD 3.5" disks (dont laugh.. that was quite the prize back then). They were multi-colored.. I gave a light blue one to a girl I liked.
I went through several more languages throughout my school career. While in High school I discovered HyperCard on the macintosh. I got kinda crazy with it and was writing all the time. I even wrote a BBS (bulletin board system) in it that high school students could log in, play mini games I write in HyperCard, send Private Messages to each other, and make public posts. It wasnt as effective as systems are today. One of my friends continually hacked it to challenge me and make me rewrite it all the damn time. It was called "The Particle Board".
Through College I learned more languages, and while I was an intern at IBM they wanted me to learn the new language JavaScript in order to utilize it on the internal website they had. Since no one at the office knew anything about it, I started looking at codes written on the web already and putting together little things. One of the little codes I wrote I submitted to a javascript library and it somehow was reposted about 8 more times on other libraries. I think I once found it on a javascript library in Polish. all it did was create a dynamic calendar and let you assign links to the days... but apparently it was well received. I wonder if its still out there..?
Lately the codes I have been writing have either been my own tinkering, a response to a request, or to solve a problem I find myself. I still enjoy critique's from better programmers like Triad, Eton, Wrighty, etc... and I have been utilizing some suggestions they have given me. An easy way to see how to write better is to look at how other programmers write, and try to figure out how they did something. If you blatantly take something someone wrote however, its a good idea to give credit.
that a good answer?
